A mouse, often known as a pointer, is a hand-operated input device that allows you to move things on your computer screen.

Mice connect to the computer through USB using a Type-A connection if they are wired. PS/2 ports are used to connect older mice. In either case, there’s normally a direct link to the motherboard.

Some computer mice turn off after a certain amount of inactivity to conserve battery life, while others that demand a lot of power will be wired-only to prioritize performance over wireless convenience.
